Candis Cannon's Sugar Cookies

Snowflake Cookies from Nutcracker ballet
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
 1 tsp vanilla
 1/4 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
3-4 c. flour
Cream butter and sugar.  Add eggs and cream well.  Add vanilla and milk; mix.  Add
baking soda, spices and 3 c. flour; mix.  Add extra c. flour if necessary.
Chill at least 1 hour.  Roll our dough thickly (1/4" - 3/8"). Cut the dough into desired shape.  Bake on grease cookie sheet at 350 for 9 - 12 minutes (this depends on the thickness and size of the cookie).

Cool then decorate with royal icing.
